Free-run Steen Chenin Blanc

A crisp and refreshing wine with an abundance of fruit on the palate, balanced with minerality and a rich mouthfeel.

Serving

– Serve well chilled
– Pairs well with poultry, shellfish & vegetable dishes.

Tasting Note

A crisp, expressive, light-bodied wine. Vibrant aromas of quince, pear & pineapple. On the palate, fresh stone fruit and apple flavours are backed by refreshing acidity, minerality and a full-bodied mouthfeel.

Winemaking

Fruit Source

Sourced from selected older vineyards in the Agter-Paarl region in Western Cape, South Africa. Unirrigated bush-vine vineyards.

Terroir

Mostly Malmesbury Shale soils. Malmesbury Shale has good water retention and the high clay content imparts minerality and fresh acidity to the wines.

Vinification

Only the free-run juice was used for this wine, with no pressing of the skins. The juice was allowed to ferment over 20 days in stainless steel tanks. Fined and filtered before bottling.

Maturation & Oaking

Left on its lees for 3 months for a richer mouthfeel and longevity. 100% un-oaked to preserve the freshness of fruit.
